ECOVA MALI is a New England-based non-profit that provides hands-on agricultural and small business training and support to Malian farmers. The organization was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Gregory Flatt and Cynthia Hellmann, both former Peace Corps Volunteers who served in Mali. In 2009, they began exciting work on a new training facility that will serve as the center of their operations.
Since the organization was flourishing, Greg and Cynthia felt Ecova Mali needed a stronger web presence to convey the great work being accomplished. Jumpstart Logic responded to their post on the non-profit network, idealist.org, where they had posted a request looking for volunteers for their website redesign. Feeling strongly about their mission and seeing that a new website would be key at their point of growth, we selected Ecova Mali as a pro bono client.
Designing and building the Ecova Mali website was a fun and interesting experience. After brainstorming with Greg, we incorporated bold colors and patterns, reminiscent of traditional Malian bogolan fabrics. To convey the teamwork aspect of Ecova Mali, we prominently incorporated photos from the work in Mali. From there, we structured the information in logical groups and created pages for News, Getting Involved, Donating, etc. We also set up @ecovamali.org email accounts in order to brand their communications.
We encourage you to check out the site and learn about the great working being done by Greg, Cynthia and their Malian team. We hope you enjoy the site as much as we enjoyed working with them!
