ECOVA MALI is a New England-based non-profit that provides hands-on agricultural and small business training and support to Malian farmers. The organization was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Gregory Flatt and Cynthia Hellmann, both former Peace Corps Volunteers who served in Mali. Jumpstart Logic worked with Katherine Sims and Joanna Dillon of Green Mountain Farm-to-School in Vermont to launch a website for Farm Direct - a new program offered by their organization. Farm Direct links local farms with institutional buyers, such as schools and senior centers. This creates a new (or easier-to-access) market for local farms and provides a healthy, feel-good purchase option for institutions.
